For over 18 years, at the end of November, New Brunswick is touched by a wave of generosity which sweeps the province. Entire communities rally to support the Tree of Hope Radiothon, the culminating point of the Tree of Hope Campaign.

The goal of this campaign is to raise funds to beat cancer and give hope to those touched by this disease.

The Première Chaîne de Radio-Canada Acadie foregoes its usual radio programming to broadcast live for a period of 14 hours. And since 2001, the Tree of Hope Radiothon is also broadcast in English by CBC Radio One, during the “Information Morning” program.

Throughout these two days, hosts take turns interviewing people who have beaten cancer, while others offer poignant testimonials about living with this terrible disease. Various medical experts describe innovations in cancer research, as well as new technologies available to treat the disease.

Many groups take great pride in announcing the results of their fundraising activities held throughout the year in support of this worthy cause. The Radiothon is also a significant cultural and musical celebration, thanks to the generosity of various artists who graciously offer their talent and their time to support the campaign.
